The goal of this blog post is to question why drag queens are predominately more popular than kings within modern-day drag culture. Through exploring and analyzing the day-to-day lives of drag kings, to taking a deeper look into norms and stigmas within drag culture, this blog aims to question why drag queens are more prevalent than kings, and what can the community can do in hopes to mitigate this from taking place in the future?

Drag has been popular in city nightclubs, especially in the LGBT community for decades. These past few years has been very important for this community, becoming main stream on social media. This is the acceptance this community has been seeking for. Does this group that was oppressed finally become glorified by its audience, peers and society?

With the wide spread popularity of Rupauls Drag Race sweeping the nation, one is curious if other countries/cultures have picked up Mother Ru’s hint and put in work to have their own variation. Specifically, with the increase of more queens hailing from countries to the east. i wanted to dive deep into the popularity of drag in countries like Korea, China, Thailand. ETC.

There is more to drag than just the performances. The individuals that are performing in drag have personal lives with friends, families, and life struggles, just like any other person. Learning about how people got to where they are today, and what influenced them, and others interested in drag is just as important as what they are performing.
