RuPaul’s drag race has brought the art of drag to the mainstream media and general public. While it has brought visibility and advocacy to the drag scene, it also brings a certain image to it as well. Not all drag artist are alike or as glamorous as the show makes them seem.
Have you and a friend sat down to “spill the tea” lately? Terms such as “tea” have been adapted into pop-culture in the last couple of years and even I did not know where they originated from. Much like any other culture, drag artists have developed their own vocabulary throughout the years. Terminology has a way of bringing a group together, much like a nickname would or “inside jokes”, and this is no different, Honey.
